Sarah Pounders
Sarah Pounders resides in Detroit, Michigan with her husband and two daughters. Sarah comes to TSOS with over a decade of work experience in nonprofit operations, science education, and curriculum development. Her background is in ecological & biological sciences, with a focus in sustainability. She has completed post-baccalaureate work in secondary science education, and holds a MPA in nonprofit management.
Sarah has been a volunteer focusing on refugee advocacy and humanitarian aid delivery since 2018. She has volunteered with nonprofit and refugee-run organizations in Detroit, throughout mainland Greece, and on the islands of Lesvos and Chios. Her time spent within refugee camps, and with Detroit-area refugee resettlement initiatives, has helped shape her understanding of the importance of hearing and honoring everyone’s story. In her free time, Sarah loves to spend time in the woods of Michigan and travel with her family.
